Start off by moving your hips to the side slowly in a rhythm with the knees bent. Double the rhythm so the hips move a little faster. Then double that rhythm, making your hips shake. Your butt and legs will naturally go along with the hips.

Taking a good picture of yourself is easy.

Because of amazing advancements in digital camera technology,taking a good picture of yourself is easy.Digital cameras are a breeze to use and have an abundance of features like self-timers and lighting effects.Gone are the days of having to wait for film to be developed. Now you can instantly see what your picture looks like,and if you don't like it you can delete it and try again.Here are a few tips to help you take great photos of yourself that you will be proud to display.

     Choose a background or location that compliments you.For example,if you like nature take a picture of yourself outdoors.If you want a more professional look, use a solid color flat sheet for your background.

Introduction

• Whether you're a kid stuck in the suburbs or the inner city,a college student stuck on campus,or a parent stuck in adulthood,skating is a great way to introduce some adventure to a life full of restrictions.Chances are,once you start,you won't be able to quit.And starting is easier than you may think.

Step 1: Have the Right Mindset

• If you want to be a skater, it's important have a positive philosophy.Skating is a creative sport,but it can be difficult.
• 
  

  
  

1. Have fun.
   • If you're looking for a competitive sport, join the swim team.Skating is all about fun and creativity.You improve for the sake of being the best you can be,not to be better than others.
2. Don't be embarrassed.
   • Inevitably,someone's going to think it's hilarious when you take a fall.Don't take it seriously.You skate to impress yourself,not some jerk.
3. Don't get attitude.
   • No matter how good you get,or how quickly you learn,always treat less competent skaters with respect and kindness.Remember how many times you've fallen in the past.
4. Don't get discouraged.
   • Maybe more than any other sport,skating is about trial and error.How else could anyone have ever invented the BS shove-it backfoot underflip?Take each spill, get up and try again.

Step 2: What You'll Need

• 
  

  A modern pill-shaped deck,without trucks or wheels.
• Don't just jump in.Get the right board and the right equipment.Here's your shopping list:

1. Skateboard.
   • Start with an inexpensive board, complete with wheels and trucks.
     • The trucks are the T-shaped metal contraptions (attached to the bottom of the board) that hold the wheels.
   • Start with a standard, modern pill-shaped deck (see photo at right),rather than something exotic.
     • The deck is the the wooden "board" part of the skateboard.
   • Before you buy,stand on the deck.Decks come in different widths and lengths, so make sure you're comfortable on it.
2. Safety gear.
   • This is particularly important when you start.
   • Just go with the basics—knee pads,elbow pads,wrist guards and—most importantly—a helmet.
   • Make sure they're comfortable but snug-fitting.
3. Tools.
   • Three tools should cover all your maintenance needs:
   1. Screwdriver. Now and then, the trucks will come a little loose from the deck. Make sure you have the right screwdriver to tighten the bolts that hold them on, usually a standard phillips-head or allen-head.
      • 
        

        The trucks are the pivoting contraptions that hold the wheels. The kingpin is the large bolt in the center of each truck.
   2. 3/8" socket wrench.When you're screwing in the bolts that hold the trucks on, use this wrench to hold in place the nuts on the other side.
   3. 9/16" socket wrench or open-end wrench.Use this wrench to tighten or loosen the kingpin of the trucks (see photo and caption at left),resulting in more or less resistance when you turn.
   4. 1/2" socket wrench.This is for tightening or loosening the nuts that hold on the wheels.
   • The Unit Skateboard Tool contains all of these tools in one.Look for it online, or at your local skate shop.

Step 3: Be Safe

• People have been paralyzed or killed skateboarding.In 1998 alone,around 8,500 kids ended up in emergency rooms for skating-related injuries.Don't be one of them.

1. Are you old enough?
   • Kids between six and ten should be supervised by an adult;kids under five shouldn't skate at all.
2. Wear safety gear.
   • Adjust the helmet and pads so that they're snug.
3. Don't try anything until you're ready.
   • This is a little tricky,because you never know if you can do something until you try. However,go with your gut.If you feel a bottomless pit open up in your stomach at the very thought of trying a new trick,then start with something easier.
   • If something looks crazy, it probably is.
   • If you're going to risk injury,make sure it's a scraped knee,or at worst,a sprain.
4. Don't be a hazard to others.
   • There's a reason that every American town has a few "no skateboarding" signs posted.Don't skate where there are pedestrians or bystanders,especially small kids or the elderly. You don't want your board flying out from under you and giving someone a concussion.

Step 4: Get Comfortable

• • 
    

    The tail is the rear section of the deck that's angled upward.
• Before hitting the concrete, get the feel of the board by standing on it in grass or dirt: any surface that prevents the wheels from rolling.(Mom's carpet is not recommended.)

1. Put one foot near the front of the board,directly over the front trucks.
   • Don't place your foot on the nose (the front part the deck that slants upward).
   • Go with whichever foot feels natural to be in front.
2. Position your foot sideways,so that your ankle is facing the front of the board.
3. Place the other foot near the back of the board,over the bolts of the rear trucks.
   • Don't place it on the tail (the back part the deck that slants upward).
4. Stand on the board and balance.
5. Keep your knees bent.
6. Shift from side to side as far as you can without falling off.
   • If you're having trouble balancing,your trucks may be too loose.Use your 9/16" wrench to tighten the kingpins.
7. Check which stance feels most comfortable:your right foot forward,or your left foot forward.
   • Standing with your right foot forward is called "goofy" style,but there's nothing wrong with it.About half of all skaters ride goofy.

Step 5: Skate

• Once you feel comfortable standing on the board,it's time to graduate from grass to concrete.

1. Find some flat concrete,away from cars.
   • If your driveway has an incline, go somewhere else-you want flat.
2. Place one foot on the front of the board, over the trucks, just as you did in Step 4.
3. Gently push off with your other foot and place it on the back of the board,over the trucks.
   • 
     

     Anyone can skate,not just the "cool" kids.
   • Right about now, the board will slip out from under you and you'll hit the pavement.This is normal.Expect this to keep happening until you can balance on the board while in motion.
   • One way to balance,particularly when you start out,is to hold your arms out to either side,as if you're walking a tightrope.
4. Be aware of the ground in front of you,and avoid obstacles like pebbles that could catch on the wheels.
5. To stop,lift your back foot from the board and press it against the pavement,like a brake.
6. To turn,shift your weight to one side of the board.

Step 6: Learn Basic Maneuvers

• You won't be ready to learn tricks until you're comfortable riding your skateboard,but there are a couple of simple techniques you should know.

1. Kickturn.
   • When you do a kickturn,you lift the front of the board and pivot on the rear trucks. This way,you can turn much more sharply than by shifting your weight to the side.
     1. Place your rear foot on the tail and shift your weight backwards,lifting the front wheels as though you're doing a wheelie on a bike.
     2. Swing the front of the board to one side or the other.
     3. With practice, attempt a 90° turn, then 180°.
2. Roll over obstacles.
   • Obstacles such as cracks in the sidewalk, or the ridges at the bottoms of driveways, can halt your wheels and send you flying.Eventually,you'll learn to ollie, but as a beginner,there's a simpler way to get over these little hurdles.
     1. Place your rear foot on the tail and shift your weight backwards,but only lift the front wheels enough to clear the obstacle.
     2. Before the back wheels hit the obstacle,shift your weight back to the middle of the board.

Step 7: Don't Give Up

• You'll fall, you'll curse, your knees will start looking like manicotti,but don't give up. The more you try,the better you'll get!And remember: LET'S TRY!

How To Play Guitar easy giudes

1. Buy a guitar tuner. Unless you already possess perfect pitch,you'll probably need a tuner. Not only will your playing sound better, but a tuner will also familiarize you with which string and fret combinations correspond with which notes.You should be able to find one anywhere guitars are sold, or at most music stores.
   
   
   
   • Tuners are easy to use and very useful if you cannot tune by ear. Make sure the room is quiet when using a tuner because the microphone on the tuner can pick up other sounds.
   • A useful mnemonic to remember the string arrangement is "Every Body Gets Dinner At Eight" or "Easter Bunnies G o Dancing At Easter (going from high E to low E). You should try to make up your own acronym; it will help you remember more easily.
   • If you cannot afford a tuner, you can also tune your guitar without one.
2. Learn how to read guitar tabs. Guitarists have their own system of music notation called guitar tablature, or guitar tabs for short. The basic idea is to look at the tab in the same way you look at your guitar; each line corresponds to a string, and each number tells you which fret to hold down when plucking that string.

3. Learn finger placement. The frets are the metal strips that run perpendicular to the strings. You actually press your finger down between the metal strips, not on them. For example, if you're playing the third fret, you place your finger on the string between the second and third metal strip. Place your finger as close to the fret as possible to create a good sound.
   
   
   
   • Hold the string down firmly so that it only vibrates between your finger and your strumming hand.
   • Do not forget that you must play on your fingertips and not on the soft part of your finger. This requires cutting your nails to avoid scratching the fretboard.
   • Right-handed players use their left hand for fretting and use their right hand for picking. Lefties are vice versa.
   • When you hold down multiple strings at once at different frets (to play chords), it can be a little tricky (especially if you have short, inflexible fingers). There are usually several different ways to position your fingers for the same chord, so research them and experiment to find which one feels most comfortable for you.
   • Keep in mind that every time you move from one fret to another, the resulting pitch will be half a step higher or lower (i.e. "sharp" or "flat"). This is important for if you want to eventually read and play
   • Some people find that placing the thumb in the middle of the back of the neck, not coming over the top, leads to better finger placement because it allows better reach and strength of the fingers on the frets. Ultimately, however, do what feels best for you.

Strumming

1. Strum correctly. This can be the most difficult part to learn without having a teacher demonstrate. Strumming consists of downstrokes and upstrokes in various combinations.
   
   
   
2. Count every beat and off-beat. For example, you might count as "1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and..." (every "and" is an offbeat). Each beat and offbeat can be an upstroke, downstroke, or no stroke.
3. Sweep over the strings evenly. No matter which direction you use, make an effort to sweep across all of the strings with even pressure and steady speed. You don't want to strum some strings a little harder than others, or start off fast then slow down as you get to the last few strings. The motion should come mostly from the wrist, not the forearm.
4.  Choose your weapon. You can strum with a pick or with your fingertips. There are various kinds of picks you can use, but beginners are usually advised to start with a thin pick, held between the thumb and the side of the index finger.

   Stay consistent. Keep your arm going in a constant up-and-down motion, sticking with a rhythm whether or not you're actually strumming. This motion functions as a metronome for beginners. As you get better at strumming, you can tap your foot, bob your head, or jerk your knee like Elvis instead.
   
   
   

Playing Chords

   Practice chords. A chord is a group of notes that sound good together. The reason they sound good together lies in music theory, but for now, learning how to play a few key chords will suffice. Practice until you can move comfortably between them without losing your rhythm.

   Learn common major chords. The most commonly used chords in Western music are the major chords, which can be remembered with the word "CAGED". Click on any of the following links for specific instructions on how to play each chord

1. Practice getting a clean sound. After you had placed all your fingers on the fretboard, play through each of the strings of the chords. Make sure that the strings that are supposed to ring are not muffled or muted.
   • If the notes are not ringing out properly, find out why. Chances are that you are not pressing hard enough or parts of your fingers are touching that string which prevents it from sounding out clearly. Are any unused fingers touching strings?^[3]
2. Learn to play some songs. Start off with easier songs — ones with fewer chords in simpler arrangements. Listen to the song being played properly with guitar so you know what kind of sound and rhythm to aim for.
   
   
   
   • Start off slow and speed up gradually, singing along (if applicable) to stick with the rhythm.
   • As you master easier songs, move on to more complex pieces. Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd is an example of an easier song to start with. It's basically a repetition of the same three chords in the following order: D, C, G, D, C, G, D, C, G.
